Day 36 - September 25

This morning we got up and got ready for church.  We attended the only Reformed church in all of Las Vegas, Trinity Reformed Church.  It was very difficult to find as when we arrived it said that it was the Lutheran Church so we had decided to just attend the Lutheran Church but as we were going in, the usher asked if we were looking for this church or Trinity Reformed Church.  Trinity is using one of their buildings as their church, so he directed us to the right place.  It was a somewhat familiar service, but also different.  We had communion, which I think they have every week, and their psalter hymnal was called the Cantus Christi 2020 which was published by Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho.  In it, a writer explained the need for this new hymnal which was an expression of holy discontent with all the liturgical happy-clappy that surrounds us.  That is a direct quote. Haha.  After a lengthy sermon using all 3 chapters of Titus, we carried on to the Hoover Dam.

The Hoover Dam was amazing.  We did the tour with a guide.  It really was quite a marvel for the 1930s and was completed 2 years ahead of schedule.  The level of Lake Mead is quite alarming and that was not addressed at all.  It has never been lower.  We had to park our van in Arizona as the Nevada parking garage was not tall enough.  You also had to go through security first with the vehicle, an officer came aboard and searched the van, and then again personally when we went on the guided tour.  This is all since 9/11.

After the tour, we started our drive to St. George, Utah.  We had a delay of about 1 hour on I-15 because of construction, so we arrived much later than planned.  I think 7 p.m.  We had to use self-check-in again to get a campsite.  We are at South Utah RV Resort and it is lovely.  We had a very relaxing evening sitting outside.  The temperature is quite nice now.  We probably won't need air conditioning to sleep.
