Day 22 - September 11
We got up this morning to the sound of rain on the roof. Throughout the night it got very windy and Pete got up to reel in the awning. It had pretty much stopped by the time breakfast was ready, but it was pretty dirty packing things up. We got loaded by about 10:30 and drove into the Town of Bamfield. There wasn't much there, so we didn't stay. The drive out didn't seem quite as bad, the rain certainly made it less dusty, but the last 20 km were the worst. We stopped at Cathedral Grove on the way home. It was really amazing to see those huge trees. Some of them were 800 years old, but most were about 300 years. Truly awe-inspiring. I understand why it got its name as I felt like talking in hushed tones while in their presence. We got home safely around 3:30. Unloaded and then Pete and I went to fill up with clean drinking water. We also went to the car wash that is just down the street from Peter and Megins. Just as we were leaving the car wash, there was quite a clatter under the hood, the van stalled right in front of the house and coasted into the parking spot. The main belt had shredded! What timing. Pete has the old belt all off and we will try to Courtney tomorrow to get a new one. He can put it on himself. It did also damage some wiring that will need to be re-soddered, but not too bad. We're very thankful for a safe weekend away camping.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend Angela! Good for you keeping up with the "young" ones!!
