Day 17 - September 6
Pete and I got up, went downtown to visit the bike shop, then went to the park to read for a while to wait for Peter who had a Rolfing session from 11 to 12:30. When we arrived back home to pick him up, he told us his session was actually for 1 p.m. so we carried on without him to Stathcona Park and Mount Washington. Mount Washington is the ski area around here. It is about 1200 metres high. We had lunch in a parking lot with amazing views of mountains, some of them with snow, all around us. We could also see the mainland quite clearly. Then we walked around the ski resort.
After we went to Strathcona Park which was just a short drive down the road. It is filled with amazing hiking trails. We just did one of the shortest ones, about 1 1/2 km and then went back to Peter and Megins. Peter then took us on a bike ride on the Puntlidge River. It was so great. The trails were really smooth and interesting and the scenery was amazing. Pete did get a flat tire from a small branch puncture, but we managed to fix it on the spot. Peter also went for a swim in the river. We probably did over 25 km in about 3 hours. The bike ride to the trails was on quite a rough gravel road and was probably the hardest part. We had some leftovers for supper and also Megin made some home fries from new potatoes from her garden. Really nice.
