Day 13 - September 2
Happy BIrthday, Michael. We hope you are having a wonderful time in Algonquin.
We had a good sleep and got up at around 8 or 8:30. Peter came over for a visit while we were eating breakfast. We kind of made a plan for the day. We decided on a hike with a picnic lunch. Pete and I got cleaned up and dressed and Peter and I made tuna sandwiches. We also picked up some peaches to take along. The hike was about a 30 minute drive south from Cumberland. It was along the Nile Creek. We loved the hike. It is in a rain forest and there are beautiful pools to swim in at the end of the hike. We had a swim and then our picnic lunch. We got home again around 3. Pete and I went back to the van and had coffee. We bought tickets online for a musical play tonight called ‘Cougar Annie’. We can walk or bike there. Peter and Megin joined us at the van for happy hour and then I made spaghetti for supper. We biked to the play in a round about way so that we could see more of Cumberland. The play was so well done. A one-woman musical about this amazing woman who moved to Vancouver Island in 1925, had 11 children and outlived 4 husbands. She died at 97 years old. The woman who did the play was a caretaker at the property for 3 years.
